While anchored in Charleston harbor, we watched the Coast
Guard doing retrieval maneuvers. With the boat plowing along at a good clip, the
helicopter took position behind and matched the boat’s speed. Slowly moving up
until it was just level with the boat, the chopper crew lowered a basket to the
boat. The boat crew retrieved the basked on deck, then let it go back up (no
one went for the ride). They did this again and again. It’s nice to see our
heroes in action, even if it is just practice.
