Charleston, SC

Interesting bird sculpture

We recently anchored in Charleston harbor for a while to visit the city. I love the old architecture, and we wandered all over the place. Here are a few of the sights.

Old pharmacy, now an antique shop
The Battery Carriage House Inn - lovely!
Path in the waterfront park
Welcoming pineapple fountain

Charleston City Market

Coastie Training

While anchored in Charleston harbor, we watched the Coast Guard doing retrieval maneuvers. With the boat plowing along at a good clip, the helicopter took position behind and matched the boat’s speed. Slowly moving up until it was just level with the boat, the chopper crew lowered a basket to the boat. The boat crew retrieved the basked on deck, then let it go back up (no one went for the ride). They did this again and again. It’s nice to see our heroes in action, even if it is just practice.

Beautiful Storm Clouds…

…as long as they’re over there, and not over here.
